For Your Entertainment #5: Poetry

For Your Entertainment #5: Poetry

"Media"

Don't say I'm wrong when I'm true
Don't say I'm bored when I'm content
Don't say I'm in need of more when all I need is less

Your convoluted messages of glamour and glory spark my gag reflex
The money wasted on trying to figure me out
Is meant to for more

Nothing is ever enough
There is always more
Another product to push
Another sale to pitch
Another dollar to earn
Another dollar to spend

But I will have no more
I will take no more

“The opposite of both love and hate?

am I so prideful
to believe that nothing can quench My thirst?

I go day to day
thinking I am the only
One who feels this way.

pride comes before the fall.
I pray salvation comes before this wall consumes My being.

I am a shell of a thing, hardly a corpse of a man.
I long for a good cry,
a good laugh,
a good hurt,
a good anything.

for far too long,
nothing I have known has been good.

indifference
threatens to overthrow Me;
to rout My spirit
that was once ablaze.

I long to love.
I long to hate.

this absence of emotion threatens to destroy Me

"When Murder Happens"

As karma often does,
It has done again.

Pains from the past resurfacing.
But this time they surface on me.

I wish I could say I am sorry,
And give you some amount of
Atonement.

So I am sorry,
but I’m sorry because I meant it.

My actions I do not regret.
My words,
They shan’t be taken back

So even now,
When I get my just dues.

I fully understand, because now is
When Murder Happens.

So even as your grip strengthens,
I understand, because now is
When Murder Happens.
